Merilyn G. Mangum
Executive Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer
Peabody Hotel Group
Ms. Mangum has been with Peabody Hotel Group as an Executive Committee member since 1994. As Executive Vice President, she is involved in strategic planning for the company. In addition, she is responsible for the management of Peabody Hotel Group's legal, administrative, and regulatory affairs, as well as the supervision of external attorneys. She also develops and implements human resources and employment policies and directs and coordinates human resources activities, including recruitment, training and education, employee services, benefits, labor relations, and labor-related legal matters. She is an executitve member of the Women In Lodging Council of the American Hotel & Lodging Association, and she has been an organizer and speaker for seminars covering legal, hospitality, and employment topics.
Prior to joining Peabody Hotel Group, Ms. Mangum was in private law practice in Washington, D.C. for fourteen years. As a shareholder in her firm, she represented some of America's largest businesses in all aspects of corporate affairs, including strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, business development and compliance with civil rights laws and other federal regulations. She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Emory University and an honors graduate of Georgetown University Law Center. Ms. Mangum is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as federal and state courts in Virginia, Tennessee, and the District of Columbia.
Ms. Mangum is active in civic and non-profit associations in addition to her professional responsibilities. She currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the University of Tennessee Department of Retail, Hospitality, and Tourism Management. She is a past president of the Grace-St. Luke's Episcopal School Board of Trustees; past Chair of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis, and a current Advisory Board member. She has served and continues to serve on numerous other philanthropic boards and committees in Memphis. |
